Wheat appam

Ingredients:

Wheat flour - 3 cups
Rice flour   - 1 cup
Jaggery      - 1 cup
grated coconut - 1 cup
banana - 1
cardamom - 5
Cashew - 10
Oil/ Ghee

Preparation time: 20 mins

Preparation method:

1. Add water with powdered jaggery and boil for 5 mins. Then strain it to remove the dirt if any.
2. Fry the cashew nuts and break them into small pieces.
3. Mix wheat flour, rice flour, mashed banana, liquid jaggery (prepared as in step 1), grated coconut, cardamom powder and cashew nuts. Mix water to get the right consistency. It should not be very hard as well as it should not be watery.

4. Use paniyara chatti with little oil / ghee in each mould, heat it for some time

5. Pour the prepared batter in each mould.


Close the lid and cook for few minutes. Turn carefully with a spoon and let the other side cook and serve hot!! :-)





Traditional method

Prepare a batter of bit thick consistency like this:


Make small balls and deep fry until it turns golden brown.
